An Ode to a Mother – poem

A man went to the king of gods and said:

I want someone soft yet tough,

I want someone who has fathomless love,

I want someone with tremendous patience,

I want someone with tons of endurance!

God waited, the man continued:

I want someone to cook me tasty food,

And to wash my clothes,

And also to help me with my chores!

God smiled, and asked then?

I want someone to wipe my tears away,

I want someone to cheer my blues away,

I want someone to correct my wrongs,

I want someone to help me grow strong!

God cleared his throat and raised his brows:

I want someone to talk, yet listen,

I want someone to give me freedom, yet rein me in,

I want someone to heal my wounds,

And I want someone to be always there for me!

God smiled and replied:

It’s a tall order indeed.

But, you do have your MOTHER.

Oh my, my! What an inspiring poem indeed. God could not be everywhere, that is why he created mothers. You have paid rich tributes to your mother. I am sure she must be smiling from heaven with her heart filled with a sense of pride at how much her tiny bride who cried on her departure , is today able to take things in her stride.
