Wistful Thinking

by Chandrika R Krishnan

What if shedding weight was as easy as adding them?  A story of a woman watching the tree shed its leaves and flowers and wishes that she too had the ability to do the same to all her added girth…and voilà, the wood fairy has heard her. She loses weight and along with that her exuberance and the interest in life.  Her obsession with calories eaten  and burnt eats into her.  In this tale which is in lighter vein, there is this underlying message to all those who are fast losing the battle to shedding their extra grams:

The tree looked so nice laden with flowers. It was prettier than bare. She realized that the body shaming needs to be stopped. Each one of us had his/her own weight to bear!  She was pleased with the word play and smiled to herself.
